Each member of our Caregiving Team must undergo a comprehensive screening and thorough hiring process.

Each caregiver is carefully matched and oriented to each client’s needs with the goal to establish a great relationship between the caregiver and client.

Preliminary Interview

Potential candidates are screened on the telephone to determine their:

  • experiences level
  • credentials
  • licensing and
  • reasons for which they wish to become a member of the Corewood Care Caregiver Team

Candidates who meet the preliminary requirements are scheduled for an in-person interview.

In-person application & interview

At our office location, candidates must complete a detailed application providing information on:

  • Previous employment
  • Educational background
  • Three professional references
  • Current nursing license or required certifications
  • Current CPR certification
  • Up-to-date health certification

In addition to this, Candidates must complete an in-depth, in-person interview so we can assess their:

  • skills and competency
  • accomplishments
  • career goals and
  • motivations for becoming and remaining professional caregivers

Personality & Morals

Finally, when selecting caregivers, we go above and beyond the normal criteria that many home care agencies utilize.

All caregivers must pass a written skills demonstration exam. In addition to this, we use Caregiver Quality Assurance (CQA) psychological, behavioral and personality testing to screen prospective caregivers. This is to ensure they are trustworthy, dependable and have the attitude and personality skills to provide top quality care. This method of screening allows us to determine a candidate’s:

  • Reliability & Motivation
  • Willingness & ability to learn new skills
  • Behavioral & Personality traits
  • Morals & Values

Background Screening

Corewood Care caregivers go through a very thorough and comprehensive screening process. We screen candidates in the following areas:

  • National criminal background checks
  • Sexual offender registration
  • Driving records (obtain a motor vehicle report on each candidate from the Maryland DMV) & Proof of auto insurance
  • Screening for Tuberculosis 

Orientation and Training

Upon successful completion of the in-person interview, and following skills and competency testing, drug testing, background screening, and personality and behavioral skills assessments, our caregivers receive an initial orientation, followed by training and instruction on Corewood Care’s mission and care philosophy.

We offer a variety of continuing education and training programs to help our caregivers implement the best care practices.
