Everyone who applies for a caregiver position at Corewood Care will undergo a comprehensive consideration and hiring process to gauge their qualifications, skills and overall fit.

Our Caregiver Selection Process

To become a caregiver at Corewood Care, all applicants will have to undergo these steps in our hiring process:


Step 1

Preliminary Interview

All shortlisted applicants will receive a phone call to determine their:
• Level of experience
• Credentials and qualifications
• Certifications
• Reasons for joining our team

Applicants who pass this phase will be scheduled to take part in an in-person interview.

Step 2

In-Person Interview

At our corporate office, next-level applicants will be screened to determine the following:

• Previous employment
• Prior education
• Three professional references
• Nursing or other certifications, such as CPR and up-to-date health certifications

Our team will ask in-depth questions to also determine:

• Motivations for becoming a caregiver at Corewood Care
• Skills and competency
• Prior accomplishments
• Any career goals

Step 3

Personal fit for Caregiving

The most skilled caregivers aren’t always the most qualified. For this reason, we’ll perform a diligent screening process beyond normal criteria.

To shortlist a final list of candidates, all potential caregivers must pass a written skills demonstration test.

This will help us to determine:

• Willingness to learn new effective caregiving skills
• Reliability and attention-to-detail
• Personality and behavioral traits

Step 4

Background Screening

To complete our hiring process, we take a deep look into an applicant’s background and history. As such, our team will delve into areas, such as:

• Personal history via background check
• Criminal history
• Driving records
• Proof of auto insurance
• Screening for tuberculosis and other contagious health conditions

Step 5

Orientation & Training

Upon successful completion of all the previous steps, we will move forward in extending a job offer. This is followed by orientation that teaches the Corewood way to the newly hired caregivers, ensuring that we share our knowledge, core philosophies and mission with our caregivers.
