Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease of the brain that slowly impairs memory and cognitive function. Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life.
The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or dementia is very distressing for both, the individual and their family and friends. Corewood Homecare is sensitive to the special needs and well-being of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, and can provide the care and help needed at each stage of the disease.
Our carefully chosen staff receive ongoing training and use a specialized memory care approach to help the client feel safe and secure. Additionally, we work with clients and their loved ones to provide emotional support and guidance every step of the way.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care services include (but are not limited to):
- Daily focus on client safety and comfort
- Engage individual with mind-stimulating activities including taking walks, singing songs, reading, talking, telling stories, doing puzzles
- Providing prevention strategies for wandering, resistant, combative, and sundowning behaviors
- Accompanying individual to social events and activities in the community
